The Hew Renew team is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who participate in our community input process about the preservation of the historic HEW complex. This “Privacy Policy” explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you participate in this process. By engaging with any or our services and submitting your comments and responses, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

Information We Collect

We are gathering input and conducting research and analysis from Nevada City residents about preserving and revitalizing the historic HEW Complex to meet the needs of Nevada City residents. As part of this process, you may be asked for your personal opinions, relationship to the City, as well as basic demographic information, such as your age, household income, address, email address, we may collect the following personal information:

Email Address: To send you updates about the project or to request additional feedback.

We may also collect

Surveys, Questionnaires, etc.: To collect general data around the values, needs, and priorities of the local community in order to determine the best and highest use of the site.
Focus Groups, Personal Interviews, etc.: To collect specific data from in person interactions around the values, needs, and priorities of the local community in order to determine the best and highest use of the site.
Social Media: To collect general information, questions and comments from the local community in order to determine the best and highest use of the site.

Providing this information is voluntary, and you may choose not to share it. However, if you opt in, this data will help us keep you informed and engaged in the planning process.

How We Use Your Information

The personal information you provide will be used exclusively by the Hew Renew team for the following purposes:

To contact you with updates about the preservation and revitalization of the historic HEW complex.
To follow up with additional questions or clarifications about your comments or responses.
To inform you of opportunities to participate further in the community input process.

To identify concerns and opportunities around potential land use regarding the current site.
To collect data around the values, needs, and priorities of the local community in order to determine the best and highest use of the site.
To further inform and refine the exploration process to best determine future uses for the site.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and we will not use your personal information for any other purpose, nor will we sell, rent, or share it with third parties outside of the Hew Renew team, except as required by law (see "Legal Disclosures" below).

How Data Will Be Shared

As previously stated, any “personal information” will not be shared beyond the HEW Renew team. Personal information includes any data or details that can be used to identify, contact, or locate an individual, either directly or indirectly. This includes, but is not limited to: your name, contact details, online identifiers, financial information, etc.

Primary data, data compiled and analyzed from the services for research purposes, may be shared in the form of reports, presentations, context for other surveys, questionnaires, focus groups, and other such educational and expository documentation.

Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. Your survey responses, including phone numbers and email addresses, will be stored securely in [e.g., a password-protected database, a locked filing cabinet, or another secure method], accessible only to authorized Committee members. We will retain your information only for as long as necessary to complete the repurposing planning process, after which it will be securely deleted or destroyed.

Your Choices

Participation in this process is entirely voluntary. You may:

Decline to provide your email address.
You may refuse to answer these or any other questions or discontinue participation at any time.
Request that we delete your personal information from our records at any time by contacting us at info@hewrenew.com

Legal Disclosures

We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process. In such cases, we will only disclose the minimum information necessary to comply with the legal requirement.

Children’s Privacy

This process is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age. If we learn that a minor has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. If significant changes are made, we will notify participants via email. The most current version will always be available upon request.
